PEREZ RAMIREZ, Miguel; MULET MATOS, Eugenio e HARTMANN GUILARTE, Armando. Diagnóstico ecocardiográfico de cardiopatías complejas fetales: Estudio de 9 años. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2002, vol.74, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.
A bidimensional echocardiography-based study was performed on patients that went to the ultrasound service department in the municipality of Baracoa, Guantánamo province, from January 1993 to December 2001. Its main objective was to prove the possibility of diagnosing complex fetal heart defects that do not correspond to reference centers of this disease. Some of the analyzed variables were: effectiveness of the prenatal echographic diagnosis of heart defects, types of diagnosed heart defects, gestational time at the moment of echography, age of the pregnant patient as well as the results of the fetal necropsies. Among the main results obtained were: twenty-one heart defects were diagnosed for 84% of the total; the main diagnosed heart defect was having only one ventricle in 8 cases; the most affected gestational time was 25-34 weeks and the most affected age group was 19-30 years-old. Finally, the fundamental echocardiographic alterations for this type of disease were pointed out.
