Abstract

ALONSO URIA, Rosa M. et al. Comportamiento de los recién nacidos con instrumentación en el parto. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2003, vol.75, n.4. ISSN 0034-7531.

A retrospective and descriptive study of all the newborn infants delivered with instrumentation at the Gynecoobstetric Teaching Hospital of Guanabacoa, in 2000, was conducted. The forceps was the most used instrument during labor, mainly among primigravidas. The most frequent cause for instrumentation was the delayed expulsive period. The most common neonatal morbidity was the cephalohematoma. There was no neonatal death. It was concluded that obstetric instrumentation is still an important resource in labor.

Keywords : LABOR COMPLICATIONS; OBSTETRICAL FORCEPS [utilization]; INFANT, NEWBORN.
