Resumen

DIAZ CALDERIN, Yamilia et al. Acute renal failure with dialytic treatment . Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2004, vol.76, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.

Acute renal failure (ARF) is a clinical syndrome characterized by an abrupt cessation of the renal function, potentially reversible. As it appears as a complication in many diseases at pediatric age, its incidence increases in more than 30 % of the cases admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. In order to know the evolution of this disease, a longitudinal, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted in 14 patients with ARF that required treatment to replace the kidney function (dialysis) from January 1999 to December 2001 at the Nephrology Service of the Centro Habana Teaching Pediatric Hospital. It was found that 50 % of the patients under study were 0-5 years old. The most common causes of ARF were glomerulopathies (35 %). More than 57 % of the patients evolved with cure.

Palabras clave : Dialysis; acute tubular necrosis.
