On examining a child with hematuria, the pediatrician should be able of identifying early some of the diseases that according to their severe prognosis or complex diagnosis, require the immediate consultation with the pediatric nephrologist. At the same time, the specialist should distinguish the benign ones and to avoid, this way, unnecessary and expensive scannings. To this end, it is convenient to have acting patterns that starting from simple clinical categories guide the diagnosis process. Accurate information should be given during the whole process so that the children and their relatives feel confident.
