A period of 90 years may either look like a long time or a short time, but what has it meant to the Cuban Society of Pediatrics? A presentation is made of historical aspects of its origin and founding, the creation and evolution of its official dissemination and communication divisions, and the professional characteristics of its presidents. Reference is also made to the management boards of the first two decades of the 21^st century, and a description is provided of the main academic activities performed, the national and international congresses sponsored, the sections making it up at present, its chapters and current membership. Additionally, reference is made to its motto and anthem, and a list is presented of the main perspectives of this scientific society throughout the year of its 90^th anniversary, among them fostering the development of Pediatrics and Puericulture, preserving them via their teaching and contributing to their development by the conduct of new research studies. The bright past of the Cuban Society of Pediatrics and its intense present academic activity substantiate its necessary currency and pave the way for new goals 10 years before its centennial.
