An analysis is carried out about the major issue of pregnancy in adolescence, and about contraception as one of the elements that must be kept in mind at the moment of facing this health problem; the advantages and disadvantages of contraception are evaluated, and these are related with the medical and social perils of pregnancy, reaching the conclusion that the advantages of contraception are higher than its risks, if they go together with and adequate sex education; therefore, the should be considered as a fundamental pillar in the struggle for the decrease of the incidence of pregnancy among adolescents, and its negative consequences.
