A prospective study was carried out with an injectable contraceptive, norethindrone enantate (NET-EN) of Noristerat, at the "Eusebio Hernández" Educational Hospital, from 1989 to 1994. The sample was made up with 103 women voluntarily selected in the Family Planning office. This injectable method is highly accepted for most part of the patients liked it and wished to continue using it; side effects are few, for only two patients had cephalea and seasickness; there is a trend to weight gain, although only 12,6 % of the patients gained more than 5 kg. This study demonstrates that this contraceptive method is highly efficient and safe, since there were no pregnancies recorded in the analyzed period.
