The present paper deals with the use of electroacupuncture as an analgesic in uterine curettages, menstrual regulations, tubal ligation, uterine conizations, and among patients after tubal ligation, hysterectomies, and with acute pain that attend the Emergency Department. Electroacupuncture analgesia was applied to 265 patients at the "Eusebio Hernández" Gynecoobstetric Teaching Hospital. 47.2 % of them were at anesthetic risk. They were divided into 6 groups that received different treatments. In the curettage I group it was obtained a total control of pain in 53.3 % of the patients, 35.9 % presented mild complaints, and in 10.8 % the control of painful sensations was deficient. In the curettage II group it was possible to control the pain completely in 61.2 % of the cases, where as 32.8 % had mild complaints, and only in 6 % the control the pain was not efficient. Among patients undergoing menstrual regulations 84 % of the results were excellent, 12 % good, and only 4 % suffered from pain. Among patients with tubal ligation the total control of the pain was achieved in 60 % of the patients, 20 % had bearable complaints, and the other 20 % also had a bearable pain. In the patients from the curettage II, menstrual regulation and tubal ligation groups the electrical stimulus and the needles were removed before starting the operation, which is an unpublished experience in our environment. 40 % of the patients with uterine conizations managed to have pain under control with the proposed combination, and 60 % had bearable pain. No complications were observed. 76.9 % of the patients who received postsurgical analgesic treatment obtained excellent results while 23.1 % continued complaining of mild pain.
