Resumen

A descriptive cross-sectional study with adolescents from the polytechnical and professional education was conducted from 1995 to 1996 aimed at exploring the sexual behavior and the history of pregnancy, induced abortions and menstrual regulations. The information was obtained through an interview structured and created to this end that was applied after a previous training. An equiprobabilistic sample of 1 185 students aged 15-19 from polytechnics was used. 466 of them were females and 719 males. It was proved that 83.9 % of the studied adolescents had an active sexual life with prevalence of the male sex. The highest percentages were observed among those aged 12-15. Abortion history was in the first place, followed by menstrual regulations and pregnancies (88.1; 83.7 and 72.1 %, respectively). There was a frequency of 2 or more induced abortions in 29.5 % of the sample that was similar to the frequency of pregnancies. More than half of the interviewed students considered that the quality of the information received on the sexual topic at their educational was centers not had or deficient.
