Resumen

HERNANDEZ CABRERA, Jesús et al. Perinatal and maternal outcomes of pregnancies at older age. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2001, vol.27, n.3, pp.208-213. ISSN 0138-600X.

It has been observed that pregnancy at over 35 years is pretty common in our society and thanks to the specialized obstetric care, it has been possible to attain positive pregnancy outcomes despite the associated risk factors. A study of all the parturient women aged over 35 years(171),accounting for 5.2% of 3 292 childbirths, was carried out in the gynecological and obstetric hospital in Matanzas. Data were recorded in a registry book and they were processed as variables in an IBM computer from the University of Matanzas, using the MICROSTAT system to estimate the percentage, the mean as a measure of dispersion tendency with its minimum and maximum biases and the X2 test where a £ 0.05. It was demonstrated that the older age (35 years and over) does not affect the perinatal mortality rates; however, the only maternal death occurred in this age group.
