It was made a review of the historical and social aspects of the practice of abortion from the beginning of humanity to the current trends in the world, as well as of the position of our country on this regard. Emphasis was made on the need to use the available contraceptive methods so as to reduce the morbidity and mortality caused by the use of abortion as a birth control method
