Abstract

GUTIERREZ MAYDATA, Alfredo. Oxidative stress in pregnancy: a new view in the attention to pregnant women?. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2005, vol.31, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

The evidences of the participation of oxidative stress in the pathogeny of various affections characteristic of pregnancy, such as preeclampsia, spontaneous abortions and early rupture of membranes, are exposed. The harmful effect of other factors when they are associated with pregnancy, such as the exposure to toxic substances, alcohol and cigarette smoke are also dealt with. To face these affections better, it is stated the need to establish a common strategy directed to control those factors propitiating the oxidative stress by an antioxidant view of the attention to pregnancy.
