Abstract
CORTINA ROSALES, Lázaro Damián and LOPEZ DE ROUX, María del Rosario. Transfusional therapy in major obstetric hemorrhage: Massive transfusion syndrome. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2007, vol.33, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.
The haemolytic perinatal disease due to Rh isoimmunization is still one of the most common causes of fetal anemia. The amniocentesis and cordocentesis have been used for many years for the diagnosis and follow-up of fetal anemia. These techniques are considered as invasive and many complications are associated with their use. The noninvasive diagnosis of fetal anemia has been made by Doppler ultrasonography. Based on the recent evidence, middle cerebral artery peak systolic doppler velocimetry (MCA-PSV) could evaluate with great accuracy the degree of fetal anemia in Rh isoimmunization. This test also allows the diagnosis of fetal anemia due to other etiologies, avoids unnecessary invasive procedures and, therefore, it could reduce perinatal morbidity and mortality.
