Resumen

Introduction: many efforts are made to fight against the cervicouterine cancer despite a program of early detection the goal is far from to be achieved yet. Objective: to know the behavior of cervicouterine cancer in the San Antonio del Sur municipality in the Guantánamo province during 2006-2010. Methods: the study universe included 254 patients with a organic cytology and positive diagnosis of premalignant or malignant lesions of cervix. Data were collected from the cytology cards of each health area, the calculus sheets of Microsoft Excel were processed, expressed in absolute figures and percentages represented in tables and charts. Results: in our study 94 patients (37 %) were included between ages of 36045 years, the more frequent cytology diagnosis was Cervical intraepithelial neoplasm (CIN) with 162 cases (63.7 %). Authors found 157 patients with two or more children (61.8 %) the age at the first intercourse were between 15-19 years, with 171 cases (67.3 %). From the total of patients 105 (41.3 %) not used any contraceptive method. Conclusions: it was determined that most of patients with a positive organic cytology were between 36-45 years old, the more frequent cytology diagnosis was the NIC I with a few cases related to human papilloma virus (HPV) standing out the patients with two or more children, the age at the first sexual intercourse was between 15-19 years and the not use of contraceptive methods were significant in our study.
