Introduction: during middle age, the biological status of women tends to be more labile due to the menopause natural physiological changes. Women report different symptoms, such as genitourinary abnormalities including, urinary incontinence associated with various risk factors which are important impact in their quality of life. Objectives: to identify some non-obstetric factors that may be related to urinary incontinence and to determine the quality of life and influence of rehabilitation. Methods: a descriptive, prospective and intervention research was performed including all women between 40 and 59 years who were diagnosed with urinary incontinence in pelvic floor consultation at CIMEQ hospital from 2007 to 2012. Results: out of 168 patients evaluated in consultation, 79 were climacteric-aged female (47 %), (49.6 ± 5.5 years). The identified non-obstetric factors were: coffee (62 %), or plenty of fluids intake during the day (55.7 %), and constipation (41.8 %). Conclusions: the physical and mental component is the most important concerning stress, urge, and mixed UTI; while the psychosocial component is the permanent IU. Evolutionary results of the assessments related to quality of life showed significant improvement and overall dimensions (p = 0.000) indicating the value of rehabilitation and the instrument sensitivity to determine the treatment effectiveness.
