Abstract

NODARSE HERNANDEZ, Rafael. In vitro assessment of discs for antibiograms of national production. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1998, vol.27, n.2, pp.106-112. ISSN 0138-6557.

The in vitro assessment of antibiotic discs for antibiograms produced for the first time in our country was made. These antibiotics were ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, cefazolim, cefuroxime, caftazidime, ciprofloxacin, vancomycin, and oxacillin. Such asessement considered the in vitro activity of these dises, as well as the determination of their stability degree. 911 bacterial strains were used, including Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria isolated from patients at the hospital. It was determined that ciprofloxacim was the most effective antibiotic of all. Generally, the tested antibiotic had a very good inhibitory activity against Gram-positive bacteria and in a less extent against Gram-negative bacteria. The results obtained were compared using discs of national production of 4 antibiotics and their analogues produced abroad. National ceftriaxone and cefotaxime attained better results. As to oxacillin the results were identical for beth, and only the national dises of ciprofloxacim had slightly inferior results. It was proved that the tested dices maintained their potency throughout the study and suffered no alterations in their physical state.
