Abstract

FERNANDEZ REVERON, Fernando. Injuria pulmonar aguda. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2000, vol.29, n.2, pp.118-126. ISSN 0138-6557.

Acute pulmonary injure is a response of lung to multiple systemic or local stimuli whose spectrum covers non-cardiogenic pulmonary oedema and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Its pathogenesis is not perfectly clear yet and it is pointed out that fixed lung macrophages start a cytokine-release process and the activation of coagulation, the kinin-kallikrein fibrinolytic complement, the arachidonic acid metabolism and the proteolytic and oxidative agents causing hystic damage. The development of the set diagnosis criteria is set forth. It is stated that up to the present, the treatment of the basic disease and the support measures are the most effective therapeutic alternatives.

Keywords : RESPIRAROTY DISTRESS SYNDROME [pathology]; RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME [diagnosis]; RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME [therapy].
