CUBERO MENENDEZ, Ormandy; PARELLADA BLANCO, Jaime and MOREJON TELLEZ, Luis. Indicadores de atención al paciente grave en el Centro de Urgencia. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2000, vol.29, n.2, pp.148-151. ISSN 0138-6557.
This paper stressed the importance of the management and assessment of medical activities in emergent and critical patients care and the work carried out by PAHO and the Ministry of Public health in this regard. It also stated the lack of an statistical information system for this activity and thus proposed a number of indicators that will allow to control and evaluate such medical activities, acting upon the structure, process and final results. Some of these indicators are: admission rate at emergency services, mortality rate per area, re-admission rate in ICU and Intermediate Care Units, average waiting time, ratio of people who died in emergency rooms to people already dead when arriving at the emergency department, discharge costs in ICU, satisfaction index in patients, relatives and workers, etc.
