We studied 60 patients aged 30-65 years of both sexes, who were diagnosed with exogenous obesity from February 1996 to February 1997 in the outpatient service of "Dr Luis Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine. Clinical, functional and biochemical parameters were analyzed and also heart risk factors were determined. The most affected were males (78,3 %); 75 % of cases were 40-59 years-old, inactivity was the most significant risk factor and a rise in hepatic echogenecity was detected in 40 % of subjects by ultrasound tests. Increased cholesterol, TGP and TGO levels were the biochemical alterations found. These patients were instructed to follow a treatment based on low calorie diet and exercises for a year and good results were achieved in the study. These data were automatically processed with a confidence index of 95 %.
