A group of 30 patients operated on at the Hand Surgery Service of “Dr. Carlos J. Finlay” Military Central Hospital from January, 1998, to July, 2000, with the diagnosis of proximal interphalangeal articulation fracture of the fingers of the hand with dislocation or trend to articular dislocation, was presented. The dynamic digital traction method was applied and an acceptable fracture reduction, an early mobilization of the articulation, an important decrease of complications, a functional recovery of the lesions and the incorporation of patients to an useful and active social life were guaranteed. The utilization of antiinflamatory and diuretic therapy was associated. The evolution of the patients was evaluated during 6 months. Excellent results were obtained in 46.7 % of the cases and good in 40 %, accounting for 86.7 % of satisfactory results. 13.3 % were evaluated as discreet and poor. The time previous to the placing of the attachment, the type of lesion and the interest of the patients in carrying out the exercises were significant for the effectiveness of the treatment. 44 % of the cases had no sequelae. The most frequent complications were: limitation to extension (20 %), shortening (13 %) and limitation to flexion (10 %).
