Abstract
LEYVA BASTERRECHEA, Francisco. Artroscopia de la muñeca en el diagnóstico de lesiones asociadas con fracturas del extremo distal del radio. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2001, vol.30, n.4, pp.230-235. ISSN 0138-6557.
A descriptive longitudinal study was conducted among 16 patients with diagnosis of intraarticular distal radius fractures from January, 1997, to December, 1998. Arthroscopy was used as an adjuvant in the management of the fractures and the diagnosis of the possible associated lesions. Fractures were classified according to Melone’s criteria. Males were the most affected in 68.7 % of the patients and age ranged from 20 to 53 (average 37.6). The lesions of the scaphosemilunar ligament were the most frequent and were 68.7 % of the cases. They were followed by those of the triangular fibrocartilage in half of the patients. It was concluded that the lesions of the soft tissues are frequent in the distal radius fractures and that arthroscopy allows to have a rapid and as accurate as possible evaluation, which makes easy the use of an appropiate therapy.
