RODRIGUEZ RODRIGUEZ, Gilda Isabel et al. Actividad Hepatoprotectora de las Tinturas de 2 Especies Vegetales del Género HYPERICUM. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2001, vol.30, n.4, pp. 241-244. ISSN 1561-3046.
The hepatoprotective activity of 2 species of the genus Hypericum that grow in Wistar rats, in Cuba, was evaluated in a hepatoxicity biomodel with carbon tetrachloride. Tinctures from Hypericum fasciculatum and from Hypericum styphelioides, both at 50 %, were used to carry out this trial. They were orally administered 10 days before and during the administration of carbon tetrachloride by intraperitoneal route. The results obtained were statistically analyzed and proved the positivity of the hepatoprotective activity of the evaluated species at doses of 50 and 200 mg/kg of body weight of Hypericum fasciculatum, and of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg of body weight of Hypericum styphelioides.
