A clinical, surgical, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted in 8 patients with villonodular pigmented synovitis at "Dr. Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja" Hospital during the last 10 years (1991-2000). This affection was mainly localized in the knee joint of male patients under 25. The elective and definitive treatment was surgical with total synovectomy, since only 1 patient required treatment with radiotherapy after being operated on. The diffuse form predominated over the localized one, which was diagnosed by pathological anatomy. There were 2 patients with relapses because it was not possible to perform a total synovectomy of wider approach and due to the difficult access to the posterior region of the knee, which coincides with the reviewed bibliography.
