COTRINA PEDROSO, Armando; ARBESU LINARES, Armando; SUAREZ REYES, Mariela  e  FERRER CARMONA, Leonides. Evaluación de 7 años de traumatismo vesical. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2002, vol.31, n.2, pp.81-86. ISSN 0138-6557.

The isolated bladder injure frequently occurs and, apart from blunt trauma, the mechanism of bladder injure is generally indirect. If it is early detected, the treatment is relatively simple and efficient, with low morbidity. With the objective of learning about the diagnostic and therapeutic management of this lesion, a descriptive study of 30 patients, who had been seen at "Dr Luis Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine and "Dr Carlos J. Finlay" Central Military Hospital from January 1992 to December 2000, was performed. 87% of the injured were males aged 37 years as an average; traffic accidents were the first cause of bladder injure in which extraperitonial rupture of bladder prevailed. Urethrocystography was the most relevant diagnostic test since it was possible to diagnose 100% of patients who were tested by this method. The treatment was basically surgical; all the bladder injures were treated with cystostomy, cystoraphy and peribladder drainage in addition to urine extraction by an urethral catheter.
