ALVAREZ FIALLO, Roger  y  MEDINA HERRERA, Esther. Neurophysiology in the study of neuromuscular diseases, development and present limitations. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2004, vol.33, n.3. ISSN 0138-6557.

A review of the current status of clinical neurophysiology applied to the study of neuromuscular diseases is presented, as well as its achievements, advances and limitations in the search for a more sensitive and specific functional electrophysiological diagnosis. Contemporary clinical neurophysiology is developing fully and new applications, methods and concepts that displace the already obsolete ones, are appearing. 2 new methods, single fiber electromiography and macroelectromiography, have been introduced into medical practice and complement the electrodiagnosis of the neurological diseases. The application of the latest advances in science and technique and the statistical analysis methods have given to it an extraordinary impulse, trying to keep up with the level of development attained by imaging. This review is made so that the specialists from other branches know about these aspects.

Palabras clave : Neuromuscualr diseases; electromiography; nerve conduction studies; multimodal evoked potentials; electrophysiological diagnosis.
