The principles ruling homeopathy, what they consist in and the importance for their application in medical practice are some of the elements dealt with in this paper. Concerns on the action of the homeopathic drugs according to the latest explanations given in the world are presented. A brief account of the history of homeopathy in the world and, mainly in Cuba, is made so that the reader may know how this therapeutics was introduced in the country more than a century ago and was developed thanks to the scientific and professional quality of our doctors, many of whom participated in the independence wars. This must serve as an incentive for the application and development of this therapy in our sphere of action.
