Resumen
HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, Héctor et al. Electroencephalographic evaluation of persons exposed to electromagnetic radiations (non-ionizing radiations). Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2006, vol.35, n.2. ISSN 0138-6557.
According to several authors, electromagnetic radiations may modify the brain bioelectrical activity and bring about changes in the electroencephalogram through different biological mechanisms involving calcium ions, the production of melatonine and other neuroregulating functions. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the electroencephalogram of a group of persons exposed to electromagnetic radiations and compare it to that of an unexposed group. It was found that the most frequent electroencephalographic alterations in the exposed group were those manifesting cerebral cortical distress (slow alterations) and increase of total and absolute energy from electroencephalographic bands theta and delta whereas the electroencephalogram alterations found in the unexposed group (controls) were not different in number and morphological characteristics from those of the general population.
Palabras clave : Electroencephalography; electromagnetic radiations; cerebral cortical distress; slow alterations; bands theta and delta.
