Resumen

PINON MONTANO, Ana G. et al. Cognitive behavioural activity of subjects exposed to electromagnetic radiations ( non-ionizing radiations). Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2006, vol.35, n.4. ISSN 0138-6557.

It was confirmed that the exposition to electromagnetic radiations (microwave radiations) provokes changes in the central nervous system, such as headache, fatigue, general weakness, asthenia, dizziness, bad mood, confusion, insomnia, depression, memory loss, and even suicide attempts together with changes in the cognitive sphere. This symptomatic complex has been called “syndrome of radiofrequencies”. The aim of this paper is to indicate the influence of electromagnetic field on the psychical activity in a group of subjects of the radiotechnical troops compared with a control group non-related to this specialty. The study included a psychiatric and psychological evaluation, and it used the medical history as a survey. A group of psychological tests were also applied. An increase of the amount of exposed subjects with decreased memory, and a greater number of individuals with severe anxiety and depression compared with the control group were observed.

Palabras clave : Central nervous system (CNS); electromagnetic radiations; syndrome of radiofrequencies; anxiety; depression.
