MENENDEZ LOPEZ, José R. et al. The sanitary casualties resulting from contemporary war actions. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2008, vol.37, n.1. ISSN 0138-6557.

Taking into account the war experiences of the XX century as to the sanitary casualties, it is convenient to widen a little more their spectrum of appearance. The previous vision of stratify them in casualties belonging to a unique hegemonic profile (surgery and non-surgery) is not at this moment a mechanism sufficiently embracer to include all the war victims. In this paper, comments are made on a wider classification that represents the military contingents that in a more or less prolonged way lose their combative disposition to fulfil the functional duties of their action stations. The groups object of report are: the produced by weapons of highly destructive power and precision, those conditioned by the use of operational variants of weapons producing multiple casualties, those conditioned by hygienic and epidemiological instability of the Military Operation Theater that are not the result of the enemy's actions, those seen due to the exacerbation of previously existing clinical and surgical conditions and, finally, those caused by psychomotor dysfunctions induced by critical war situations.
