Resumen

There are similarities in the contributions and ideals of Cajal and José Martí. Both lived in the same period of time of 1871 to 1873 as students in Universidad de Zaragoza from which they graduated. In 1873, Cajal graduated as Bachelor of Medicine whereas Marti majored as Bachelor of Civil Law and Philosophy and Literature the following year. The objective of the present paper was to make a comparative analysis that identified the coincidences and similarities between both men, which would allow highlighting shared virtues and values, either patriotic or human, of these two universal figures who are real architypes of the kind expression of the best qualities of two peoples twinned by history.
