Abstract

DIAZ DE VILLEGAS JORDAN, Lissette. Approach to studying power parity adquisitive in Cuba. An analysis from a time perspective. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2015, vol.153, suppl.1, pp.71-89. ISSN ISSN.

The exchange rates' functioning is a topic that has occupied economists during long time. One of the oldest theories to determine an equilibrium exchange rate is the Purchasing Power Parity. It is used to analyze deviations of the spot exchange rate from its value in the long run, to make homogeneous comparisons of macro indicators between severalcountries, and to analyze how expensive is the cost of living of a country towards another one. In Cuba, there aren't several researches about this topic, that´s why we have numerous questions about the evolution and present state of consumer´s purchasing parity. This work represents a preliminary advance within this area, with a focus on the tendency that absolute and relative purchasing parity have had since 2005 with respect to the euro zone.

Keywords : cheap; consumption; equilibrium; exchange rate; expensive.
