Abstract

The fragmented productive processes -together other factors- have changed both the structure and directions of international trade flows, modifying some of the historical patterns which dominated the international transactions since the II World War. This article analyses the most outstanding trends and some relevant transformations which have occurred in world trade, and its implications for developing countries in recent years. At the end, some challenges for Cuban economy -which exhibit a vulnerable external trade pattern- will be summarized.
