Abstract

KOGAN, Jorge  and  BONDOREVSKY, Diego. Latin America Development Infrastructure. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2016, vol.156, n.1, pp.168-186. ISSN ISSN.

The present work analyzes the recent evolution of the infrastructure inversion in Latin America. The analysis focuses on the study of investment mechanisms between the private and public sector, the financial requirements, the role of the institutions and the social and environmental impact of infrastructure projects. The text shows that the Latin American countries still require urgent resources to cover the investment gap, and that the investment percentages of the gross domestic product are far away from those of the developed countries. Moreover, it states that the region's countries have a long way ahead towards generating mechanisms of internal and external financing for the sector, and to strengthen the institutions for the infrastructure investment development.

Keywords : water and sanitation; private public association; energy; investment; telecommunications; transportation.
