The present work is aimed at analyzing the Cuban agricultural market's evolution, and suggesting some measures for its better functioning. Consequently, several considerations are discussed, and, according to the international experience, they are to be regarded when implementing changing processes in the agricultural markets. It is all about getting to know the back grounds that may contribute to enrich the debate on problems that affect the functioning of these markets, and, therefore, of the agricultural sector in Cuba. The development of the Cuban agricultural markets are considered in their relation with the rest of the food markets, as well as some basic matters that should be internalize when carrying out reforms in the agricultural systems. Besides, the paper goes over some of the identified failures in the Cuban case, and a course of action is suggested.
