Abstract

ALFONSO CUEVAS, Nidia. Notes Updating Theory of Imperialism in the 21st Century: The Mexico Case. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2017, vol.158, n.1, pp.17-25. ISSN ISSN.

During the first one hundred years after the definitive establishment of capitalism as a world system, two works elucidating and synthesizing the essence of this system were written, namely Capital, by Karl Marx, and Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism, by Vladimir I. Lenin. Both works complement each other, and, regardless of their defenders or detractors, remain topical. This declared topicality, however, is not sufficient, as a scientific truth, it must be systematically validated in order to be on the right track in anti-neoliberal and anti-capitalist struggle. This paper is aimed at contributing to this validation by analyzing how capitalism has developed in Mexico, and placing restrictions on capitalist solutions to structural, multidimensional, and systemic crisis affecting global capitalism.

Keywords : capitalism; crisis; imperialism; neoliberalism; macroprudential policies.
