Abstract

ANAYA CRUZ, Betsy  and  GARCIA ALVAREZ, Anicia. Mango Value Chain in Santiago de Cuba: Evaluating Market Demand for This Fruit. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2018, vol.159, n.1, pp.29-41. ISSN ISSN.

This paper examines one of the major aspects to be taken into consideration when creating any value chain: demand, in this case, for mango-derived products in four municipalities of the province of Santiago de Cuba. Even though it takes a mainly methodological approach since this type of study is not usually conducted in Cuba, its findings show that there is a mismatch between supply and demand, and they may be used as an aid to tailoring supply to end customers’ preferences, so the mango value chain can be improved.

Keywords : value chain; demand; ordered logit.
