Abstract
ARRIZABALO MONTORO, Xabier. Imperialism, Destruction of Productive Forces and Chronic Crisis of Capitalism: Capital, an Essential Tool to Understand the Current World Economy (Part I). Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2018, vol.160, n.2, e21. ISSN ISSN.
In this paper, the current world economy is described in the light of the Marxist method whose theoretical definition in the realm of economic analysis is Capital. Two theoretical categories of a social nature are taken as starting points-productive forces (closely related to relations of production), and imperialism, the highest stage of capitalism. Both categories and their connection with each other are explained in this paper, Part I. In Part II, it is examined how this connection occurs, inasmuch as the destruction of productive forces is an increasing historical need under imperialism (crises, wars, and specially devaluation of labor force), which is shown in the recent sequence crisis→adjustment→crisis. This allows the escaping forward to be verified. Capitalism usually escapes forward in order to survive.
Keywords : marxism; capitalism; imperialism; productive forces.
