This paper examines the transition from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Logical contradictions occurring in the emergence of the new agenda and global interests it has to deal with are explained. Major changes in the 2030 Agenda and their characteristics are identified. Potential which SDG have and their risks to the international cooperation system are analyzed.
