Abstract

DELFINO, Gabriela M. Cultelli  and  ORTIZ, Pamela Sosa. The Commodification of the Labor Force of Women: a Vision from the Political Economy. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2018, vol.160, n.2, e13. ISSN ISSN.

The following work aims at analyzing the process of direct commodification of female work force, the double exploitation and the historical existence of a huge female reserve working army, as from the Marxist theory of value-work and using descriptive instruments. In addition, the necessary conditions that gave rise to this process are analyzed, the criticism is added to vulgar labor market theories that hegemonized the so-called "gender economy". Some characteristics of this process of commodification of women labor force between 1950 and 2017 in Uruguay are detailed, using other indicators for shorter periods of time and including the regional comparison.

Keywords : gender economics; labor force; salary; work.
