Resumen

PANELLAS ALVAREZ, Daybel  y  ARANGO RODRIGUEZ, Laura. Prosperity both for Government Employees and the Self-Employed. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2019, vol.161, n.1, e2. ISSN ISSN.

The Guidelines on Social and Economic Policy of the Party and the Revolution issued within the framework of the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party in 2011 have had a major impact on all the spheres of society. Since then, a new leadership in Cuba has emerged which tries to continue the revolutionary process, but in a different, subjective and objective context. This is aimed at building a prosperous society which aspires to achieve a social and economic development meeting all citizens’ material and spiritual needs. Impelled by the need not to look down on anybody, the following question is raised: How do employees conceptualize prosperity? This research is based on social identity theory, social perception, and studies of social inequality and social equality conducted in Cuba. Various research methods were used such as questionnaires, drawing, and semi-structured interviews. The results show that the self-employed not always make a difference.

Palabras clave : employees; entrepreneurs; heterogeneity; prosperity.
