This paper presents an overview of the evolution and development of agrarian relations in Latin America, with emphasis on the present day. Relations between transnational food and agriculture corporations and Latin American small farmers are examined. Ecuadorian small farmers are taken as a case study which demonstrated that public policy fails to solve their problems.
