To improve distribution mechanisms is one of the problems of major importance to the transition to socialism in Cuba. One the most serious challenges to be immediately faced in this stage of constructing socialism is to use work for wealth creation, so people’s quality and standard of life could be improved. Ways of contributing to the implementation of institutional distribution according to work in today’s Cuba are as follows: improving mechanisms for distribution; giving individual and collective incentives; increasing productivity; paying more attention to peoples’ working and living conditions, so these could be improved. This paper examines current trends in and contradictions of distribution according to work, and suggests ways of improving it.
