This paper aims to determine how the Cuban agricultural sector participates in the country's economic development process. To this end, it analyzes the way in which it contributes to feeding the people, as well as its contribution of labor force and foreign currency for the promotion of other economic activities. Its relationship with the external sector is deepened, since the balance of payments restriction that Cuba faces is, precisely, one of the greatest obstacles to achieve a more dynamic economic development.
