The process of «updating the Cuban economic and social model» has marked economic, political and social life in recent years. Among its central themes is the updating of the business system, which is the cardinal for economic reorganization. The present work aims to assess the separation of business and state functions in the Cuban context, based on an analysis of its definition, the monitoring of the development of the process and reflections on its current state.
