Abstract

GARCIA BAEZ, Román. The Fundamental Contradiction of the Socialist Transition: Economic or Ideological?. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2021, vol.165, n.1, e8.  Epub Dec 15, 2020. ISSN ISSN.

The difficult economic and social situation precipitated by the collapse of the so-called real socialism, and aggravated by the opportunistic tightening of the US blockade against Cuba, forced the adoption of economic measures and actions that had been necessary and inevitable for decades. It was not its previous conceptualization what catalyzed the economic decisions, but the imperious practical demand what conditioned changes in the socioeconomic model. Based on this general framework, this article critically outlines some concepts about the modalities of property and its contradictions in the economic, political and ideological spheres. Likewise, it is synthetically characterized the evolution of these relations in today's Cuba. The generalized controversy around the problem of property and wealth concentration became a platform for the current analysis of the fundamental contradiction of socialist transition.

Keywords : corruption; humanism; individualism; petty bourgeoisie; property.
