Abstract

HERNANDEZ MARTINEZ, Jorge. The United States in its Labyrinth: The Crisis, the Pandemic and the Political Scene. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2021, vol.165, suppl.1, e2.  Epub Jan 21, 2021. ISSN ISSN.

The work examines the processes that make up the context of structural and conjunctural crisis that define North American society at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century and that are projected in an uncertain direction. The analysis focuses on the relationships between the current economic recession, the impact of the new coronavirus pandemic and the presidential elections that take place in 2020, in a general crisis that has not left the scene and is manifested not only in the economic sphere, but also in the socio-political and cultural sphere of the United States in recent decades, despite the adjustments and partial recoveries that have accompanied the logic of capitalism in that country.

Keywords : capitalism; coronavirus; elections; imperialism; recession.
