The main objective of this article is to provide an analytical summary of the main trends described by economic integration and cooperation relations between Latin American and Caribbean countries over the last fifty years. The analysis is structured in three parts. First, some theoretical and methodological elements about the concepts and processes of economic integration and cooperation are synthesized; in a second part, the dominant trends of the economic integration and cooperation processes developed by the countries of our region between 1970 and the end of the 1990s are studied; and the last section deals with the trends of these processes in the first two decades of the present century.
