En la historia de la economía política se aprecian dos grandes escuelas sobre esta ciencia: la economía política burguesa y la marxista. Con frecuencia a esta última se ve y trata más como narrativa ideológica que como ciencia económica, por lo que se ignora la robustez epistémica y metodológica que posee y su valor para interpretar la compleja y contradictoria realidad socioeconómica. Argumentar el valor científico y la eficacia teórico-práctica que tiene la economía política marxista es el propósito esencial del presente trabajo. La investigación es de tipo teórico y parte de la orientación metodológica general del materialismo dialéctico como proceder filosófico. La economía política marxista es una ciencia con capacidad para poder descubrir y explicar la naturaleza más profunda de las relaciones sociales de producción de una sociedad, sus regularidades, contradicciones y tendencias; es, más que una ideología, una ciencia; más que una teoría, una práctica.

In the history of political economy, two great schools of this science can be seen: bourgeois political economy and the Marxist. This last is often seen and treated more as an ideological narrative than as an economic science; therefore, its epistemic and methodological robustness and its value for interpreting the complex and contradictory socioeconomic reality are ignored. Arguing the scientific value and the theoretical-practical efficacy that Marxist political economy is the essential purpose of this work. The research is theoretical and part of the general methodological orientation of dialectical materialism as a philosophical procedure. Marxist political economy is a science with the capacity to discover and explain the deepest nature of the social relations of production of a society, its regularities, contradictions and tendencies; she is, more than an ideology, a science; more than a theory, a practice.
