Abstract

Today, one of the promises of Biotechnology: the obtaining of new foods from manipulations of genes conferring them new properties, is a real fact. Nevertheless, their use has created some concerns with respect to the possible risks they can represent for humans and environment. That is why, it has been necessary to establish a strong regulatory frame and the necessity to implement techniques allowing their detection with high sensitivity and specificity degree. In the present review, the current situation of the GMO foods, their detection and their biosafety are analyzed.
