Abstract

In order to reduce consistently the risks of contamination in the production of laboratory animals, the use of adequate facilities, standardized work procedures, validated production processes, quality assurance programs and documentation systems assuring a process based on the Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices guidelines is necessary. In this work, the Quality Assurance Programs for the certification and acceptance of laboratory animals at CENPALAB (National Center for the Breeding of Laboratory Animals): Cleaning and Desinfection Program, Environmental Monitoring Program, Staff Monitoring Program and Microbiological and Genetic Monitoring to the animals and Microbiological and Bromatological to the concentrated foods are described. The establishment of these programs allows to have useful document for the Quality Assurance System in the center.
